Sustainability at Breitenmoser

Sustainability at Breitenmoser

For us, sustainability is not a trend, but part of our corporate responsibility. As a traditional Appenzell company, we think long-term – ecologically, socially and economically. We assume responsibility towards our region, our employees, our partners as well as towards nature and resources.

Our aim is to combine quality with sustainable action. We rely on concrete measures, transparent processes and continuous development.

Ecological responsibility & regional origin

We consistently focus on energy efficiency and renewable resources. Since 2023, we have been covering part of our energy needs with our own photovoltaic system. Our production facilities are powered entirely by renewable electricity from Swiss hydropower. A heat recovery system uses waste heat to heat our office space.

We also act responsibly when it comes to the origin of our raw materials. Chicken and pork come from Eastern Switzerland, veal exclusively from Switzerland, and beef predominantly from Swiss production. We avoid food waste through conscious processing. Organic waste is fully recycled, for example to generate energy in the form of biogas.

Reusable containers reduce packaging material, automatic dosing systems minimize cleaning agents and consistent waste separation returns recyclable materials to the cycle.

For us, sustainability begins with the origin and does not end with production.

Social responsibility & long-term thinking

Our employees are the foundation of our success. We promote your health, further training and personal development through targeted measures. These include, among other things, a 4½-day working week, above-average holiday regulations and financial contributions to training and further education.

The training of young specialists is very important to us. We offer apprenticeships in various professional categories, support learners financially and provide practical insights into our company.

We also think long-term economically. Fair partnerships with suppliers, sustainable growth instead of short-term profits and investments in modern, resource-saving technologies ensure our future viability.

We do not see sustainability as a marketing tool, but as part of our identity. Our goal is to act responsibly today – for the people, animals and nature of tomorrow.
